Egypt said he was working on a “comprehensive vision” for the renovation of the war -torn Gaza belt that guarantees Palestinians the right to stay on their country, unlike US President Donald Trump’s proposal.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said he hoped to cooperate with Trump’s administration to achieve a “righteous settlement of the Palestinian cause”.
The meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah on Tuesday followed, where he doubled his plan to now take over Gaza and permanently move two million Palestinians who lived there in Jordan, Egypt and other locations.
Abdullah said that every Arab state rejected the idea and that Egypt would present an alternative.
The UN warned that any forced displacement of the territory of the territory would be illegal to international law and “equal ethnic cleansing”.
There is a growing concern that fights in Gaza could continue, after the Israeli Prime Minister warned Hamas that he would end the ceasefire if the Palestinian armed group “Don’t return our hostages by Saturday”.
Benjamin Netanyahu issued an ultimatum after Hamas said that he had delayed the release of multiple hostages until further notice, claiming that Israel had violated the terms of the trial agreement.
Sitting with King Abdullah in the White House on Tuesday, Trump said that there was a “great progress” at his proposal to take over Gaza.
“Since the United States controls that piece of land … For the first time you can have stability in the Middle East,” he told reporters. “And Palestinians, or the people who now live in Gaza will live nicely in another place.”
When journalists pressed them to comment on the plan of forcing Palestinians to move to Jordan, King Abdullah said: “We must keep in mind that there is a plan from Egypt and Arab countries.”
Later, King wrote on X that “Jordan’s persistent position was repeated against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the west coast” during the meeting, adding: “This is a unique Arab position.”
Prior to the meeting, Trump said that he could “stop” to stop the help of Jordan and Egypt if they refused to cooperate with his plan and take over the displaced Gazana.
Shortly after the King’s remarks, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that he hoped to cooperate with Trump’s administration to reach a “just settlement of Palestinian reasons”.
“In this context, Egypt confirms its intention to present the comprehensive vision of the renovation of the Gaza belt, in a way that ensures that the Palestinian people remain on their own land and in accordance with the legitimate and legal rights of this people,” added, without giving any details.
President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi also told Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederixen in a telephone call on Tuesday that gauze renewal must happen “without displacing Palestinians,” his office said.
It was not immediately clear when Egypt would present his alternative Gaza plan.
Kairo should host the Arab summit to talk about the “serious” achievements of Palestinians on February 27, while King Abdullah said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called on Arab leaders on Riyadh for an indefinite date.
Sisi also received an open invitation of Trump to visit the White House during a phone call earlier this month. However, Egyptian security sources said on Wednesday Reuters to the News Agency that SISI would not travel to Washington if the agenda includes Trump’s plan.
Abeer Barakat, a Palestinian teacher in the city of Gaza, told the BBC to believe that Trump’s plan “impossible to achieve”, but that he became angry people.
“We worry that Jordan and Egypt will bend from Trump’s threats,” she said.
Palestinians are afraid of repetition of Nakba – Arabic words for “disaster” – when hundreds of thousands fled or drove from their homes before and during the war that followed the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.
Many of these refugees ended up in Gaza, where they and their descendants make up three quarters of the population. Another 900,000 registered refugees live on the occupied west coast, while 3.4 million others live in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, according to the UN.
Asked by a journalist on Monday whether the US would force Palestine to leave Gaza, Trump replied that “they will all want to leave.” He also said in an interview that Gazani would not have the right to return because “he spoke about the construction of a permanent place for them.”
The Israeli army launched a campaign to destroy Hamas in response to an unprecedented cross -border attack on October 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 was taken to hostage.
Since then, more than 48,220 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Hamas Territorial Ministry.
Most of the Gaza population has also been displaced several times, almost 70% of the buildings are estimated to have been damaged or destroyed, and health care, water, sanitary and hygienic systems have collapsed, and lack of food, fuel, medicine and shelter.
