Bozy: Morrell needed more movements, physical work against Benavidez

Coach Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis says he thought the former WBA ‘regular’ heavyweight champion David Morrell would go to boxers and go to David Benavidez’s body in their fight on February 1.
Bozy thinks that Morrell (11-1, 9 ko) was wrong, standing in front of Benavidez (30-0, 24 ko), covering and leaning forward, instead of moving around to set the traps. As the 27-year-old Cuban Morell fought was ideal for Benavidez to use that style to win in a unanimous decision in 12 laps.
Morrell’s mistake
Bozy wonders what his coach told Morrell in his corner because he was not supposed to fight that way. Morrell still injured Benavidez several times with large shots, but couldn’t use. Benavidez won the fight with the results of 118-108, 115-111 and 115-111. The first score that the judge, Tim Cheatham, included did not reflect what happened in the fight, because it was still close. Morrell got a pound of meat, injured Benavidez and marked his face upwards outside the recognition.
“It was a huge struggle, but I thought Morrell would box more and use their legs,” said coach Derek ‘Bozy’ Ennis YSM sports mediaresponding to the loss of David Morrel on David Benavidez on February 1. “He ordered himself and threw away such blows. It looked like it was not a style to him to fight Benavides like that.
“If anyone has such hands against Benavidez and stays like that, Benavidez is a sharp combination. Body-head, head of the body. But if you go, you make it difficult for him, but he [Morrell] I didn’t do that. He lost there.
“And I, but he didn’t do any of that at all,” Bozy said when the interlocutor said he thought Morrell would move and set up traps. “Benavidez got it all and he can box a little. He is one of them who come to the fight. He wants to make it an exciting fight and that’s why people come to see him fighting. He’s a crowd.”
Morrell fought the same way in his previous fight against Radivojo Kalajdzic last August. So, it is possible that this is a training issue and he has to consider getting a new coach to prevent it from repeating this.
The power of Benavidez
“He won’t just box you. He said,” Hell with boxing. “Once he gets inside, he goes into his body and in his head and made everything look spectacular,” Bozy said of Benavidez. “That’s why people love him. Several times,” Ennis said that Morrell was injured several times.
“But he didn’t do that,” Bozy said of Morrell, looking like he could put together something to win after injuring Benavidez. “When he struck him, he buttoned him, but Benavidez returned like a champion. I mean, he returned to throw them away, man.”
Morrell fought badly until 11. When he ruthlessly attacked the very tired and beaten Benavidez, letting him out. 12., Benavidez threw his hand blows and fought on the smoke. Morrell, whose power was still as good as it was when he started the fight, landed all the hardest shots. It was surprising how tired Benavidez looked like.
“As I said, it was a good fight, but Morrell didn’t fight his fight. He didn’t use the foot movement or none of that,” Bozy said. “In fact, he did not go into the body. I didn’t see him going to the body. I didn’t see any of that [stabs to the body from Morrell]. I don’t know what kind of information he got in the corner.
“That would be a good fight because it is the only thing about Benavides. He got that dog in it,” Ennis said when he said Benavidez was obliged to fight the winner Arthur Beterbiev against Dmitry Bivol 2 rematch. “You have to kill him in the ring. He’ll never stop. You have to make him give up,” Bozy said about Benavidez.
