Simmons, Angelo Perera, Bipul Sharma Shine as Delhi Royals beat Kings Rajasthan
Delhi Royals registered its first Legend 90 League win with a dominant 41 run over Rajasthan Kings in Match 4 at the International Crite Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh on Saturday.
After setting a whopping 195/3 in 90 balls, Delhi Royals effectively defended his result, limiting Rajasthan Kings at 154/4.
Rajasthan Kings skipper Ankit Rajpoot opted first for a bowl, but Delhi Royals made a decision. Shikhar Dhawan started his team beginning, hitting three consecutive four in the first against Rajpoot. He, along with Lendl Simmons, built a solid 60-lane before he fell into a judge Tyagi.
Simmons, playing his first season match, continued to dominate, sewing a stand of 82 running with Angela Perera for the third Wickket. The former West Indies opener broke 87 out of only 39 balls, hitting 12 square and four six, before missing the century.
Perera handed the final touch, remaining undefeated at 54 of 24 balls with six four and three six, helping Delhi Royals to set a scary target from 195/3 in 15 additions.
Hungry in 196, Rajasthan Kings suffered an early blow because the opener Phil Mustard rejected the duck in the first overturning of Parvander Awan, who sprayed his wire head.
Despite the resistance of Gaurava Tomara (34 off 18) and Rajesha Bishnoi (31 off 12), Rajasthan struggled to build a momentum. Bipul Sharma was an exchanger of the ball game, taking three shots to reduce Rajasthan to 78/4.
Rajat Singh, a top scorer of Kings from their previous game, played Valiant Knock, remained undefeated at 48 of 32 balls. He, along with Manpreet Gony, tried to revive the stabs, but the target proved to be too steep.
Bipul ended with winning a figure of 3/18, while Awana contributed to 1/15, including a virgin to seal a contract for Delhi Royals.
