Jesse Eisenberg says he feels “most comfortable” to live in Indiana after leaving the “unstable” Hollywood

Jesse Eisenberg There is no regret for his decision to leave Hollywood and accept a more peaceful life in Indiana.

During the recent interview with CBS News, The 41-year-old actor explained why he joined the growing list of celebrities who moved out of Tinseeltown.

“I’ve been living in Indiana for the last decade and beyond,” said the “social network” star. “I feel most comfortable here. I’m not someone who wants to surround myself in an industry that just feels unstable to me.”

Eisenberg recalled that he and his wife Anna Stout had spent a lot of time in his hometown previously Bloomington, Indiana, which he described as “one of the big American cities.” The couple first started hanging out in 2002, but called it in 2012. Eisenberg and Stout re -romanticated in 2015 and tied the knot two years later.

“We have returned there for the last 20 years just to visit him,” he said about their trips to Bloomington. Eisenberg told CBS News that the couple initially moved to Indiana to take care of his late mother -in -law Toby Strout, after she got sick.

“Then we had a baby and then a pandemic shot,” said Eisenberg, who shares Son Banner, 7, with Stout. “So we ended up there for a few years.”

While living in Bloomington, Eisenberg and Stout worked as volunteers at Shelsion Shelter Middle Way House, where Toby was the executive director.

“There was obviously no acting work during the pandemic,” Eisenberg said. “And so I just volunteered every day in the shelter.”

The “Zombieland” actor, who launched his professional acting career at the age of 16, said that work at the shelter was “the happiest time of my life.”

“I painted the walls and repaired garbage and it was – it was the first time I had the right job,” he said. “It sounds weird to say that, but in 38 years he was the first time I had the right job. And I just loved him so much. I loved to be able to achieve something that was not a criticism, you know what I know what I mean? “

He continued: “I could be active and work and help and do something that really contributes beautifully, but not in the way I received praise, which somehow sometimes feels like a contribution or receiving criticism, which hurts because it is criticism. And so this is just this amazing feeling.

“It was kind of like a revelation that I had the right job at that age and I love him,” he said.

Eisenberg is currently preparing for 2025 academic awards After receiving the best nomination for the script to describe the script of his movie “Real Pain.” The native of New York also directed the drama of the comedy Buddy-Road and played it with Kieran Culkin, who was nominated for the best side actor.

While talking to CBS News, Eisenberg noted that his life in Indiana also provides him with more time to concentrate on writing a script, not competing for acting gigs.

“I like to keep as many feet out of the door of the industry as possible, so I don’t feel like someone is constantly trying to hit the sidewalk and knock on the door and get a job,” he said. “I just don’t want to be that person. It doesn’t suit me. So, to be in Indiana, as, like, a professional perspective was really great because I felt like, you know, if I didn’t work now, that’s fine.”

“And I have this second life and I could write during the day,” he added. “And so, being in Indiana allowed me to have, like, an extra foot in front of the entertainment industry door that was really comfortable.”
