Santorini swinging more earthquakes growing uncertainty

A few more earthquakes hit the waters around the Greek island of Santorini just hours after the authorities declared a state of emergency there.

The tourist focal point has been swinging the days of seismic activity with thousands of earthquakes recorded since last Friday.

On Thursday night, the Magnitude 4.6 earthquake was recorded at 20:16 local time (18:00 GMT) in the sea between Santorini and another island, Amorgos, followed by an earthquake of 4.2 Magnitude about two hours later.

Most of the inhabitants – more than 11,000 people – have already left the island because the earthquakes are recorded in a minute in a minute.

Experts warned that it was not clear when this “seismic crisis” period could end.

The earthquakes so far have not been as serious on Thursday as a shock of 5.2, which occurred on Wednesday in the waters between the two Greek islands.

So far, no greater damage has been reported on the island, but the authorities are being prepared in case the larger earthquake is hit.

Magnitude refers to the size of the earthquake, with increasing marked as decimal points.

Magnitude 6.0 and more is considered serious, where as a magnitude 5.2, the strongest so far in the region so far, it is considered moderate.
