Dates for the next three editions SA20 were announced. The fourth edition of the tournament will begin in December, while the tournament season 2027 and 2028 will need to start in January.
The announcement was published on the eve of the current SA20 2025 playoffs. The next SA20 edition will start from December 26 on box Day. The league has been withdrawn in a month because the National Cricket of South Africa has not been supposed to play any test cricket this year. The national team is likely to play only a white ball game, as recently mentioned by the director of South Africa’s cricket.
SA20 2027 and 2028. It will be played in the original window in January-Wave. Both seasons are likely to start on January 9, and the finals will be held on February 14 and 13, in two editions. The last two seasons of the tournament have also been played in the January-Feburary window together with the current edition.

Commissioner SA20 Graeme Smith said the announcement of the date for the next three editions allows stakeholders to receive security. He also emphasized that the 2026 edition, starting with December, would allow players to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026. Speaking with ESPNCricinfo, he said:
“Betway SA20 certificate for three -year period allows the league to bring safety to all stakeholders and helps to secure our place when planning a global calendar.
“We know that fans respond particularly well to weekend and holiday devices, the ICC T20 World Cup in early February next year, our season 4 dates 4 provide a unique opportunity to take advantage of the top crislette season in South Africa and key state holidays.”
Graeme Smith added that early planning allows them to view an extended window from 2026-27 and optimize schedule and logistics. He added:
“Early planning also meant that we were able to look at an extended window from 2026-27. This would optimize the arrangement, logistics and experience of the fan.”

But if SA20 starts a boxer day, the cricket of South Africa could cost. This is because players like Joe Root and others will lack the beginning due to international obligations. The league will also clash with the Big Bash League in Australia and the Bangladesh Premier League.
SA20 published an official statement by saying: “A working group made by representatives from the league and the crisis of South Africa.”

SA20 Season Four: 26. December 2025 to 26 January 2026
SA20 Season Fifth: 9th January to 14 February 2027
Sa20 season six: 9 January to 13 February 2028.
