Nissan, Honda to announce the direction of possible integration to the middle of February, says Nissan


Tokyo (Reuters) -San engine will aim to announce the direction of its possible integration with a Honda engine until mid -February, a company spokesman said on Friday, pushing a plan from late January.

Two Japanese car manufacturers discussed the exploration of the merger up to 2026, in a historic turn for the Japanese auto industry, which underlines the threat of EV Chinese producers represent the world’s long-dominant inherited car producers.

“(Two companies have planned to decide on the direction of management integration by the end of January, but discussions about the preparation committees for integration lasts,” a spokesman said.

In December, the companies said that they wanted to end the conversations around June, before setting up holding by August 2026, when the shares of both companies would be abolished.

Nissan’s long -term federal partner Renault said earlier that he was in principle open to merger. The French car manufacturer has 36% Nissan, including 18.7% through French trust.

Separately, the sources told Reuters last week that a smaller partner of the Mitsubishi Motors Association thought he had not joined the planned merger.
