Recorded “Super floor” more than 1500 dolphins Coast of Californiawith an unusual vision that extends miles over the horizon on Friday morning.
Captain Evan Brodsky, with Watt Monterey Bay Whale, noticed a huge gathering Riss dolphins At the Carmel Bay and said he was “exhaled”.
“It was amazing,” Brodsky said. “We were there on the ocean every day and, you know, we all took pictures.”
Brodsky and a small team, including the Colleen Talty Biole, were on a 20 -foot inflatable ship that sought gray whales when the dolphins began jumping from the bay.

Talty said that some dolphins even swam on the front of the boat and using the waves to start them forward, the technique known as a ride with the bow.
“They were breaking everywhere, spying on the tail, they came right to the ship,” she said.

Talty added, “It just looked like they had a big party, hanging out with each other.”

Such a large group of adult and minors Delfin was probably the result that several pods gathered while swimming south, according to Talty.
Riss dolphins, which can weigh as much as 1,100 pounds and reach as much as 13 feet, usually travel in groups of 10 to 30 animals, according to National Ocean and atmosphere administration.

The coast of Monterey is a particularly ideal place to spot them because they prefer Extremely deep water. The underwater submarine canyon means that they can swim much closer to the coast than in other parts of California, Talty said.
Although these are not the first time Brodsky and Talty have seen the dolphin group of this large, they have said that such a scene is a rare occurrence.
“It was a really unforgettable encounter that I won’t forget for long,” Brodsky said.
