‘Great under’ of more than 1500 dolphins along the California coast: drone video

Talty said that some dolphins even swam on the front of the boat and using the waves to start them forward, the technique known as a ride with the bow.

“They were breaking everywhere, spying on the tail, they came right to the ship,” she said.

Such a large group of adult and minors Delfin was probably the result that several pods gathered while swimming south, according to Talty.

Riss dolphins, which can weigh as much as 1,100 pounds and reach as much as 13 feet, usually travel in groups of 10 to 30 animals, according to National Ocean and atmosphere administration.

Although these are not the first time Brodsky and Talty have seen the dolphin group of this large, they have said that such a scene is a rare occurrence.
