Mikel Arteta has issued a stern warning to Liverpool over the Premier League title race

Mikel Arteta has warned Liverpool that his Arsenal are not giving up the fight for the Premier League title.

Liverpool are pretty much at the top of the table, but Arsenal can move six points adrift with a win over Brentford on Wednesday, although Liverpool will still have a game in hand.

While Arteta did not hide that the race for the title is already out of their hands, he warned Liverpool that every mistake will be punished by his determined team of Gunners.

“I don’t know [how hard it will be to catch Liverpool] and that’s not up to us,” he said. “We have to continue to be like a hammer, to be there every day, every day, every day.

“And, I mean, if someone wins all the games, congratulate them and let’s go to the next season. But if they don’t, which has not happened in history, we will be there.”

Having already come up short in the last two title races, Arteta conceded his point Arsenal the side must prove they have what it takes to go one step further and get their hands on the trophy when it all comes together.

“Well, we’ll have to prove it,” he continued. “What we have already proven this season, and I am sure that it would have happened last season, having played as many games as we played with ten players, all the injuries we had in the team, sure that we were in the position we are in today competitions, so the team took another step.

“The team develops and adapts to new circumstances. And now we have another one, which is more games with fewer players. So let’s understand each other.”
