Adam Azim should ignore Dalton Smith and the public pressure to now take over the British battle, says Johnny Nelson | Boxing news
Adam Azim should ignore the ‘public pressure’ to deal with the British battle against Dalton Smith, says Sky Sports expert Johnny Nelson.
22-year-old Azim takes another significant step in the class when he faces Sergei Lipinetes, a former world champion at Wembley Arena on Saturday night, Live on Sky Sports.
Smith caused more calls to showcase with Azim after Walid Ouzza was stopped in the first round last weekend.
But Nelson said Sky Sports: “Adam has to concentrate on your job, because if you try to reconcile your opponent’s performance, then what happens is that it affects your own effect.
“Adam must stay in his lane, do what he does well.
“Dalton Smith, we see his class in his performances, we see how good he is. But Adam constantly improves.
“Currently Adam can ignore him [Smith].
“He can neglect the pressure of the public and say,” I go on my journey and eventually we will cross the trails. “
“The public pressure makes struggles prematurely or too late in his career. Adam is in a position where I would, if I were him, grow, because no one beats him in the end.
“If I were Dalton’s people, I would have kept pressure, tried publicly to embarrass him and put him with a grip. That’s what Dalton does.”
Coach Shane McGuigan described Azima as a “superstar” And he believes he can imitate the achievements of American stars like Gervont ‘Tank’ Davis and Ryan Garcia.
“Shane knows Adam and he knows what will inspire him,” Nelson Sky Sports said. “He knows what the possibilities are.
“Some of them are a show and” my fighter can do x, y, z, “but Shane McGuigan does not perceive me as a coach who extends excessively.
“Just because these are big names, people think it is impossible for Adam, because you are not used to being used in the same sentence.
“But why not? Adam is a good fighter and all he did is grow, but since these guys are big names in America, that doesn’t mean you can write them off.
“If you are talking about it now, it becomes a reality in maybe 18 months or two years – this is what Shane does. The way Adam goes, that’s why he speaks him.”
