Real Madrid in negotiations over a sudden cash injection in January

Serie A side Como have opened negotiations with Real Madrid to buy them all out transfer clauses related to 20-year-old midfielder Nic Paz, the report claims.

Paz, a product of Madrid’s academy, made a €6m (£5.1m) move to Como this summer and has established himself as one of Serie A’s best youngsters, racking up five goals and four assists in a run of form that earned him his first call-up the Argentine national team last October.

Madrid have a buyout clause to re-sign Paz, while they also have the option to match any bid received for the 20-year-old and are entitled to a percentage of any future transfers, but Gianluca Di Marzio states that Como wants to change that.

Como, backed by the richest owners in Italy, wants to reach an agreement with Madrid to remove all their clauses related to Paz. They are said to be willing to pay up to €20m (£16.9m) to remove Madrid’s grip on Paz’s future.

However, convincing Madrid to accept their offer could be difficult, as manager Carlo Ancelotti has already done spoke openly about his interest in Paz. He described the midfielder as “the future of Real Madrid” and even called his move to Como “a year of training outside the club”.

Cesc Fabregas, the Como manager, has acknowledged the existence of Madrid’s buyout clause, but recently suggested that the Italian side have far more control over the situation than they may suggest.

“There is a special buyout clause for Nico Paz for Real Madrid, but he is a Como player,” Fabregas said. “If Como doesn’t plan to sell Nic, it won’t happen. We have an agreement with Nic. It’s impossible for us to think about selling Nic Paz.”
