Now they will continue plans to hit Canada, Mexico and China with new tariffs, said the White House, increasing the risk of a trade war.
Washington will hit Canada and Mexico with 25 percent of tariffs and China with 10 percent of the levy, a journalist for the Karolina Leavitt White House said on Friday.
“The deadline of February 1, which President Trump put into a statement a few weeks ago, continues,” Leavitt said.
The comments come after a report on Friday that the tariffs pledged by Donald Trump could postpone a month.
Leavitt said such reports were “false”, adding, “These are the promises and promises the president held,” she said.
The US index of dollars, which reached its gain on zero after the initial reports of March 1, recovered that the day would be 0.5 percent higher. Mexican peso and Canadian dollar immersed on a negative territory, wiping out earlier gains.
