US President Donald Trump said he wanted Egypt and Jordan to take over Palestine from Gaza, which he described as a “place to demolish.”
In a phone call this weekend, Mr. Trump said he told Jordan’s King Abdullah: “I would like you to take over more, because I am currently watching the whole Gaza tape and that is a mess, it’s a real mess.” on Sunday.
The move “could be temporary” or “could be long -term,” he said.
Hamas vowed to oppose any such action, and the comments will probably be outraged by Palestinians in Gaza, who see the territory as their ancestral home.
“Our Palestinian people in Gaza’s belt has suffered death and destruction for 15 months … Without leaving their country. Mr. Trump gave his comments as he spoke to reporters on the aircraft ship.

“Almost everything was demolished and people die there. So, I would rather deal with some Arab peoples and build a housing elsewhere where I might live in peace to change.”
Mr. Trump did not give further details about the proposal, and the topic was not mentioned in official reading from the call.
Asked about Mr. Trump’s comments, Abu Yahya Rashid, a man displaced in the southern city of Khan Younis, said:
“We are the ones who decide our destiny and what we want. This country is our ownership of our ancestors throughout history. We will not leave it except as corpses.”
The decades of US foreign policy have committed herself to the creation of the Palestinian state, with Gaza as a key part. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejects this.
Now they have said earlier that they are opposed to any forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or occupied West Coast, with Then Secretary of State Antony Blinken said last year: “I can’t, they should not be pressed to leave Gaza.”
More than two million Palestinian refugees, most of which received citizenship, live in Jordan, according to the United Nations. They are descendants of some of the 750,000 Palestinians who escaped or were forced from their homes in conflicts over the creation of Israel.
Thousands of Palestinians have escaped to Egypt since the war with Israel started, but have not recognized the refugees there.
