Jamie Overton looks clueless as Varun Chakravarthy jangles his stumps with a jaffa

Varun Chakravarthy ended his 4-over spell in the second T20I against England in stunning fashion at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Saturday (January 25). On the last ball of his spell, the Indian spinner completely baffled Jamie Overton.

The right-arm spinner started the game strongly. After taking 3 wickets in the first T20I at Eden Gardens earlier this week, he bowled Harry Brook with a beauty in his first over in the second T20I. He also conceded only 3 runs in his first over.

In his second over, Varun Chakravarthy gave away 11 runs. His last two overs turned out to be a bit expensive. In his third over, the 33-year-old finished with 12 runs. And in his last over, he was taken clean by Brydon Carse. The English all-rounder welcomed him into the attack by hitting him with back-to-back sixes.

However, Varun Chakravarthy managed to end the spell in good fashion as he bowled Jamie Overton with a clean hit in the last delivery of his fourth over. It was a googly from the Indian star and Overton failed to pick it. The England all-rounder looked to hit the ball towards the side but was beaten on the inside edge. The ball hit his thigh before crashing into the stumps.

Talking about the match, England finished their innings with a total of 165/9 in 20 overs. Just like the first T20I, the visitors got off to a bad start in the second match as well. They lost both their openers – Phil Salt and Ben Duckett – within four overs.

At one stage they were 90/5 and the 150-run figure looked like a distant dream, especially after the departure of their captain Jos Buttler on 45. However, players like Carse (31) and Jamie Smith (22) came up with some handy knocks to fuel the your team to a good overall result.

For India, Axar Patel and Chakravarthy took two wickets each. India currently lead the series after winning the first game by 7 wickets and will look to make it 2-0 with a win in the second game.
