New Zealand Allrounder James Neesham performed Herschelle Gibbs on Saturday (January 25th) as he dropped Joe Root’s capture even after he first caught the ball.
The incident happened during the match between Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals at Boland Park, Paarl. The veteran multi -colored mistake made a fifth overa’s mistake when Australian Jason Behrendorff threw a ball on Joe Root.
On the last ball of the overa, Pacer hit a short ball with his left hand and Root pulled the ball toward a deep square leg. Initially, it seemed that the ball would easily cross the borderline. However, James Neesham had other ideas. The Precoria Capitals star ran to the right and grabbed the ball with both hands.

As soon as he finished catching, Behrendorff and other Pretoria Capitals players began to celebrate. But their joy did not last long because James Neesham failed to finish catch. After grabbing the ball, he continued to run, and the ball slipped from his right hand.
“He made Herschelle Gibbs,” said commentator Pommie Mbangwa in the air.
The ball then hit his thigh and refused. He tried to catch the ball but failed. To make matters worse, the ball escaped toward the fence. As a result, Root received not only a delay but also a four. The decision was forwarded to the third judge who eventually ruled in favor of the percussion.

For those who do not know, the former South African perpetrator of Herschelle Gibbs has done something similar against Australia at the 1999 World Cup. On that occasion, he threw out the Australian giant Steve Waugh because of his premature celebration. Waugh continued with an invincible 120 run. Just like Steve Waugh, Joe Root also made the most of the delay he received from James Neesham. The English giant had only 13 runs when Neesham dropped it. He continued to play without defeat of 78 runs on a heavy punching ground.
Thanks to Root’s shot, Pretoria Capitals recovered from 41/3 and published a competitive total result of 140/4. In response, Paarl Royals was at 23/3 after 6 over the time of writing this report.
