Kieron Pollard is known for his explosive batting and skilled bowling skills in white ball cricket. However, the cricketing world got a glimpse of just how good the Caribbean player is on the field as he displayed exceptional skills in white carrying out his duties on the boundary line. Pollard’s flying catch is dispatched Knight Riders of Abu Dhabi fire dough Andre Russell back to the pavilion thus giving a crucial breakthrough to MI Emirates.
Kieron Pollard’s superb fielding skills keep MI Emirates hopes alive
The incident took place during the 19th over of the match as the Knight Riders were heading for a mammoth total against the Emirates. Short ball from Alzarri Josip pulled Russell with the intention of hitting the maximum. However, the ball was too close to the Knight Riders’ powerful batsman’s body and didn’t get the momentum Russell expected.
The ball continued to sail towards the far off area where Pollard was deployed. The 37-year-old leaped forward to make a superb catch at the moment when the ball was expected to land a few meters short of his position. The catch sent Russell back to the pavilion who hit a maximum in the first game of his innings and looked in fine form. Russell scored 6 runs and played just 2 balls in his short innings.

Emirates did not meet the target
Although Russell couldn’t score big for his franchise in the International League T20 (ILT20)The Knight Riders managed to amass a competitive total of 182/7 in their 20 overs. Emphasized display of powerful blows from Jason Holder in which he scored 22 off 7 balls and 55 shots Alishan Sharaf enabled the home team to reach this total.
In reply, the Emirates batsmen could not provide enough support for Pollard at the other end whose 69 from 49 balls was an outstanding performance for the visitors. Despite his heroics on the field and a brave stand against the Knight Riders bowling unit, Emirates could only manage 140/6 in their 20 overs and were 42 runs short of the target. With 3 wins in the tournament so far, both sides are now level on points, although Emirates have a slight edge over Knight Riders on net run rate.
