American Airlines reported a jump in fourth-quarter profits with results that came in ahead of analysts’ expectations, although its first-quarter outlook fell short of estimates.
The carrier on Thursday forecast an adjusted loss per share of 20 cents to 40 cents for the first three months of 2025 based on current demand trends and fuel price forecasts, higher than the 4 cent loss that analysts had expected, according to LSEG.
The airline expects that the capacity in the first quarter will be unchanged and lower by as much as 2% compared to last year.
Here’s how Americans fared in the fourth quarter compared to Wall Street estimates compiled by LSEG:
- Earnings per share: 86 cents adjusted versus 64 cents
- Income: $13.66 billion versus expectations of $13.40 billion
