LGBTQ+ couples in Thailand register their marriages because the law gives them equal status

Hundreds of LGBTQ+ couples in Thailand are expected to legalize their married status on Thursday, the day a law giving them the same rights as heterosexual couples came into effect. By passing the Marriage Equality Law, Thailand becomes the first country in Southeast Asia and the third in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, after Taiwan and Nepal.
