Varun Chakravarthy returns with figures of 3/23 in the first T20I against England

One of the main reasons for the victory of the Indian national cricket team was the player Varun Chakravarthy. The mystery spinner broke the backbone of the English cricket team and made sure to help his team end the opposition’s innings with a low total.

Chakravarthy, who came into the attack in the power play, did not take long to strike the ball. He struck in his second over and removed both Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone to get his team back into the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Varun Chakravarthy then removed Jos Buttler as well and ended up taking three wickets. The Indian national cricket team spinner returned with figures of 3/23 in the first T20I. Based on his impressive effort with the ball, he helped India beat England by just 132 runs.

I’m still 7 out of 10, I still have work to do – Varun Chakravarthy

Talking about his performance with the ball, Chakravarthy said that he is used to this pitch because of the IPL. He talked about his plans early and while speaking after the match, the Indian national cricket team spinner said:

“I’m still 7 for 10, I’ve got work to do. I’m used to seeing those kind of strides in the IPL. I know it’s for the seamers, but I know there are certain lengths that are useful for me. What I’ve realized is that I can’t beat the batsmen by turning sideways.”

Bowling batsmen like Jos and other guys is challenging – Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy said he wants to keep the ball away from the batsman’s arc. He discussed his plan with Jos Buttler and admitted that the last over was challenging, but he is thankful to God that he succeeded. He added:

“Trying to keep him away from their arc, he held back a little bit. Every time, bowling at Eden is challenging. Bowling to batsmen like Jos and other guys is definitely challenging. The last time was very difficult and challenging, but by God’s grace, I succeeded.”

He would like to continue his performance in his second game and help the team win. The next match will be played on Saturday (January 25).
