What could only push them further towards qualifying for the Champions League, Nottingham Forest now they have reportedly made a hefty offer to sign him Premier League forward.
Nottingham Forest transfer news
Those in the Midlands are rightly operating with all the ambition in the world after breaking into the Premier League’s top four. Unbeaten since early December, they are better than ever in the Premier League to turn to a certain caliber of stars. It’s a rise that has already seen Forest linked with a string of impressive names, from Alex Baena up to Luiz Henrique.
Reports even went so far as to suggest that Forest did activated his £50.7m release clause in his pursuit of Baena as they look to fend off competition and secure the Villarreal midfielder’s arrival this month.
Baena’s arrival would be a real statement of intent from a side clearly keen to ensure this season’s run is not just a flash in the pan and instead a permanent feature in England’s top flight.

The Villarreal man is not the only one they are reportedly ready to pounce on at the City Ground. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Nottingham Forest have made a bid worth £22m to sign Yoane Wiss from Brentford this month. But as far as the Bees are concerned, they will have to do more than that to secure the striker’s signature.
Whether Forest will increase their bid to sign Wiss remains to be seen, but there’s no denying how much of an impact he could make in the second half of the campaign. Given the fact that the Brentford man also has same agent as Morgan Gibbs-Whitethe personal terms might be easier than would otherwise be agreed upon.
Amid doubts over Taiwo Awoniyi’s future, signing another striker would certainly not be a bad idea, especially if it is Wissa who steps into the City Ground this month. The 28-year-old could be an immediate upgrade to Awoniyi linked with West Ham and probably would even force it Nuno Espirito Santo into a system change to accommodate the partnership between the Congo Man and Chris Wood.

Two players who exceed the expected number of goals, Wissa and Wood could form one of the most lethal duos in the Premier League.
Those in the Premier League are already well aware of how well the Brentford man can work in a partnership, given how successful he has been alongside the equally impressive Bryan Mbeuma this season. Now he could do it again with the New Zealand international at the City Ground.
The Brentford boss previously described him as “outstanding”. Thomas FrankWissa could make the right decision in the final weeks of the January transfer window if Forest come calling again.
