India secured a historic win over England to seal the PD Champions Trophy 2025
In a historic triumph, India’s physically disabled cricket team won PD 2025 Champions Trophy defeating England by 79 runs in a thrilling final held at the FTZ Cricket Grounds in Katunayake, Sri Lanka on Tuesday 21 January. This win not only underscores India’s dominance in the tournament but also serves as a significant milestone for the differently-abled athletes in cricket.
A dominant performance from India
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, India scored a whopping 197 runs for 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The change was anchored by the explosive performance of the first player Yogendra Bhadoriawho scored a spectacular 73 runs off just 40 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes at an impressive strike rate of 182.50. Bhadoria’s aggressive batting set the tone for India, effectively dismantling England’s bowling attack and laying a solid foundation for an incredible total. The middle order contributed significantly, ensuring that India maintained the momentum throughout their innings with quick runs between the wickets and solid partnerships. This concerted effort put immense pressure on England even before they began their chase.
The bowling brilliance of Radhika Prasad
Defending their total, the Indian bowlers put up a clinical performance, with Radhika Prasad emerging as a featured performer. He recorded outstanding figures of 4 wickets for just 19 runs in 3.2 overs, consistently hitting the right areas and forcing England’s batsmen into mistakes. Captain Vikrant Kenny also showed his all-round ability with figures of 2/15, while Ravindra Sante he contributed with 2/24, maintaining solid lines during England’s innings. India’s bowling attack was relentless, ensuring that England’s chase never gained momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. In the end, England were bowled out for just 118 runs, giving India a deserved victory.
