Following the sale of Jaden Philogene to Ipswich Town, Aston Villa they are now set to lose another player following reports that a European club have reached an agreement to secure his signature this month.

Villans was one of the busiest clubs in Premier Leaguewelcoming Donyell Malen after the sale of Philogene and reportedly working on deals to sign contracts like Loic Bade and Andres Garcia. The latter seems particularly likely to arrive amid reports that Aston Villa have reached an agreement with Levante to land the young right-back.
Currently four points behind the top four, they are reinforcements that Aston Villa could also look at as crucial, as Unai Emery looking for an improved second half of what has been a campaign full of inconsistencies so far. The Spaniard will be well aware of the quality in his side and the importance of causing another shock in the race for a top-four finish, which their recent comeback draw against Arsenal certainly helped.

Away from the action and potential arrivals, however, those in the Midlands look set to part ways with another player after Philogene this month. According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are now set to lose Diego Carlos after Fenerbahce completed a €10m deal (£8.4m) this month.
Already on his way to Turkey to complete his departure, £100,000 a week defender leaves Aston Villa after just under two years in an injury-disrupted period to perhaps make a case for what could have been after his 26 million pounds transfer, which means that Villa makes a loss.
“Solid” Carlos needed to go
Amidst Aston Villa’s pursuit of Bade, Carlos has always looked destined for the exit door and the opportunity to work under Jose Mourinho is certainly not one he should turn down. In truth, an ACL injury on his first start at Villa Park set the tone for what was to come for Carlos, who was forced to watch Emery arrive and develop Steven Gerrard’s side away from the Brazilian.
However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had his moments to enjoy and he can look back on praise from the likes of Matt Kendrick as a positive to take away from the Premier League. Reach’s sports director described the defensive performance as “solid” in 2023 and stated that he looked “physically very imposing”.
Selling before buying this month, Aston Villa should see their new strategy as a vastly improved step forward. The last thing those in the Midlands will want to face is any profit and sustainability charges in the near future, having already been forced to play it safe last summer to avoid any problems. And showing the likes of Philogene and Carlos the door could ensure they slip away more comfortably this time.
