GBI agents spotted at CFP national championship game as part of increased security following New Orleans tragedy
The College Football Playoffs The national championship game is set to begin in Atlanta on Monday night, and the city and state have stepped up security measures to ensure that everyone at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the surrounding areas is safe and secure.
Agents are among those with boots on the ground Georgia Bureau of Investigationsbecause they posted a picture of two agents on X.
“GBI agents are in Atlanta today making sure everyone stays safe during the CFP National Championship game,” the post read. “If you see us, come say hello! Please prepare for the weather and stay safe and warm.”

The weather in Atlanta is cold, with a low of 17 degrees expected Monday night. And the GBI agents show how cold it is as they are wrapped up from head to toe.
Gov. Brian P. Kemp issued a state of emergency “to ensure the deployment of appropriate resources” due to sub-zero temperatures.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, as well as Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, highlighted the heightened security measures for the title game, which is being held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the second time since its inception.
Although the city has seen this event before, the tragedy that occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day on New Orleans’ historic Bourbon Street led to increased staffing and precautions ahead of Ohio State and Notre Dame. New protocols are included in the extensive preparations for this event.

The terrorist attack in New Orleans happened a few hours before the Sugar Bowl, which was therefore postponed until the next day.
“Everyone at the Atlanta Police Department will be out on the job,” said Chief Scheirbaum, by extension 11 Živ.
Chief Scheirbaum confirmed that multiple specialized units and a visible police presence will be seen in and around the stadium. Atlanta Fire Department specialized units will also be around the city to respond quickly to situations.

Today is a busy day for Atlanta because their Martin Luther King Jr. Parade. honoring the civil rights leader on a federal holiday held earlier Monday. This required increased security measures, with street closures that would eventually turn into festive football festivities.
