Everton vs Tottenham: Preview, Predictions and Lineups
Two perennial Premier League players meet at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon as Tottenham Hotspur travel to face Everton.
These historic clubs have been trophy-shy in modern times, and perhaps both clubs see a bit of themselves in the other. Two inherently pessimistic fans have been treated to dismal 2024/25 campaigns so far, although many would argue that Everton are living up to pre-season expectations.
Sean Dyche left the Toffees 16th in the table and barely above the drop zone. David Moyes has since been named as his successor, but the returning Scot oversaw a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa in midweek.
Spurs’ barren run in the Premier League continued on Wednesday as Arsenal won the North London derby 2-1 at the Emirates. Sunday’s visitors remain exhausted, but Ange Postecoglou simply has to oversee an uptick in results soon.
They remain in all cup competitions – Postecoglou’s saving grace – but Spurs’ return from five points from a possible 29 in their previous nine league appearances can only be described as relegation form.
Here 90 minutes guide for sunday Premier League conflict.

Everton will soon have Dwight McNeil and James Garner available again, but both will miss Sunday’s game with knee and back injuries.
Seamus Coleman also has a muscle problem and is a question mark for the trip to Tottenham, while strikers Youssef Chermiti and Armando Broja are out. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is likely to remain at the top despite his wasteful performance in midweek. Moyes has Beta as an alternative.
Nathan Patterson could come in for Ashley Young at right-back, with Jesper Lindstrom also pushing for a start in attack.
Everton predicted the line-up against Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Patterson, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Mangala; Lindstrom, Doucoure, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin.
Richarlison came off the bench in the derby after a few months out due to a hamstring injury. Son Heung-min scored on Wednesday but he has had a poor run of results this season and we could soon see the Brazilian emerge as a genuine option down the left for Postecoglou.
Ben Davies could return to the matchday squad on Sunday, but Spurs will likely have to stick with the same makeshift defense at Goodison Park. Brennan Johnson is suddenly in doubt with a calf injury further forward.
Wilson Odobert, Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Rodrigo Bentancur and Timo Werner are all out of the machine injured.
Predicted line-up of Tottenham against Everton (4-3-3): Kinsky; Porro, Dragushin, Gray, Spence; Bissouma, Bergvall, Maddison; Kulusevski, Solanke, Son.
Can both teams lose?
Moyes’ Everton won’t be too dissimilar to Dyche’s iteration, and will remain a tough team to beat, especially at Goodison. The Toffees would have got a point on Wednesday had Calvert-Lewin returned to his early 2020/21 season rather than the version that has appeared since.
Spurs should enjoy control and territory here, but they have hardly proven themselves to be adept pickpockets against compact defences. Their problems in stoppages were not as visible compared to last season, but the hosts will undoubtedly aim to dominate from such situations on Sunday.
All the results are on the table here, but the visitors can walk away with a desperately needed three points.
