However, there will be little time to celebrate their trip to the capital and attention will immediately turn to some challenging upcoming matches. With one eye on Arsenal in hot pursuit, Liverpool can afford to be complacent until the end of January and beyond.

Sandwiched between Arsenal’s remaining two Champions League stage fixtures comes a trip to Wolves in the Premier League. The Gunners have won their last seven meetings with Old Gold, including a 2-0 triumph at the Emirates Stadium on the opening day of the season.
However, things get more challenging for Arsenal next weekend as they also prepare for a clash with Man City. They drew in dramatic circumstances at the Etihad back in September – ten-man Arsenal conceded a goal in the 98th minute – the Gunners will be looking for a confidence-boosting win against the struggling Cityzens.
