Trump picks Penny Schwinn as deputy education secretary Reuters

(Reuters) – President-elect Donald Trump said he would nominate Penny Schwinn, a former Tennessee education commissioner, to be his deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education.
In addition to Tennessee, Schwinn worked at the Texas Education Agency as deputy commissioner for standards and engagement, deputy commissioner for special populations and tracking and principal deputy commissioner for academics, Trump announced Saturday on his Truth Social platform.
She also served as Assistant Secretary of Education for Delaware.
Trump originally gave Schwinn’s name as Peggy, but corrected it to Penny in a subsequent post.
