17. skirmish on Big Bash League 2024-25 saw on New Year’s Eve Adelaide Strikers taking over Perth Scorchers on Oval Adelaide. The away side won the toss and invited the Strikers to bat first, which proved detrimental as the Scorchers claimed their third win in the 2024-25 BBL. In reply, the Scorchers did not start the run well Matthew Hurst getting dismissed in the 2nd over of the innings. Aaron Hardie also, he followed the wicket-keeper batsman four deliveries later. The Scorchers were in deep trouble at the time with a score of 5 runs for 2 wickets. Opener Finn Allen and middle row dough Cooper Connolly they took the onus of runs on their shoulders and added 84 runs between them to save the team from going down like a deck of cards. Allen’s flawless half-century off 23 balls provided the team with a solid base to make this run chase for the Scorchers a real deal. Towards the end, another partnership between Conolly and the captain Ashton Turner did the rest of the cruise through the new year rush.
