U.S. Bitcoin Strategic Reserve Outlook Rises to 70% ATH as BTC Approaches $106,000, U.Today writes
U.Today – Anthony Pompliano, a well-known venture capitalist, podcaster and Bitcoiner, shared data showing that the probability, or expectations, that the new US president will build a strategic reserve for the country in 2025 has increased dramatically.
This tweet was posted as Bitcoin briefly jumped to the $106,000 level. A slight pullback followed, and the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization is now trading hands at $103,120 per coin. That represents a drop of 2.71% within a few hours today.
Bitcoin Reserve Probability Rises to 70%
Over the past 24 hours, the price of Bitcoin has increased by approximately 4%, coming really close to the $106,000 level and showing a 16.90% increase over the past week – from $90,660 to $105,932.
This happened as speculation about the new presidential administration in the US and the plans of the newly elected political leader to give the green light to the creation of a strategic BTC reserve for the country and start building it this year.
According to a screenshot from betting market Kalshi, the probability of this happening has reached an all-time high of 70%.
Another key factor that has pushed the price of Bitcoin so high is the approach of Donald Trump’s inauguration day, which will be January 20, Monday next week.
The US government could sell 70,000 BTC
As previously reported, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) recently received court permission to sell 69,370 BTC seized from Silk Road hackers in 2020.
The sale has not yet taken place, but could result in the US government receiving $7,152,699,078 in exchange for this cryptocurrency. Many crypto fans, on the other hand, hope that the newly elected US President Donald Trump will prevent a potential sale and keep this huge amount of Bitcoin for a strategic reserve that he plans to build.
