Pep is now desperate for Man City to sign the La Liga “specialist” after Marmoush
Now approaching a deal to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, Pep Guardiola now he is reportedly desperate Manchester City to sign a La Liga midfielder for his side.
Man City transfer news
WITH Vitor Reis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Marmoush ready to go, it’s fair to say Manchester City were in no mood to wait for reinforcements this month after a disastrous campaign so far. Only recently turning around after a shocking losing streak, the Blues remain out Premier Leaguetop four and is in increasing danger of missing out on the Champions League.
However, even in these circumstances, the good news continues to come from the pitch as Erling Haaland put pen to paper on an incredible nine-and-a-half-year contract that will only include a release clause when he arrives in 2029.
The clinical forward will now be joined by Marmoush in a partnership that could turn Manchester City’s season around. With the Premier League champions splashing a reported an €80m (£68m) package. with the extras included, the Egyptian will surely have to hit the ground running. It may not be the last to arrive this month, though.
Connected
According to reports in Spain, Guardiola is now desperate for Manchester City to sign Mikel Jauregizar from Athletic Bilbao and has expressed an interest in the midfielder with those at the Etihad leading the race for his signature.
Still only 21, Jauregizar could quickly emerge as the solution to Manchester City’s Rodrigo problem. Citizens remain without their most important star and will be like that until the end of the campaign. And if they are to have any chance of turning their season around, then it’s not just Marmoush who has to come this month.
“Specialist” Jauregizar can solve Rodri’s problem
It undoubtedly highlights how desperate Manchester City’s problems have been at times this season that they have not immediately prioritized a replacement for Rodri this month. Instead, they turned their attention to fixing an exposed backline and ultimately giving Haaland some much-needed goal-splitting help down the stretch. Only now that these problems may have been solved, the Citizens seem to have returned their focus to their environment.
In this regard, Jauregizar is certainly an interesting option. La Liga analyst Hadi Anani described him as a “possession specialist” – the 21-year-old is undoubtedly one to watch as the January transfer window continues.

The numbers certainly back up Anani’s verdict, with the Athletic Bilbao man recovering possession more than five times in the game in impressive fashion, outdoing Mateo Kovačić and Bernardo Silva in that regard.
Having already splurged this month, Manchester City are set to do so once again to complete what has been an excellent January transfer window.
