Liverpool, who last won the competition in 2021/22, eased into the fourth round with their A 4-0 win over League Two side Accrington Stanley. Trent Alexander-Arnold starred after a difficult week at right-back and Federico Chiesa scored his first goal for the club.
Chelsea had a similar high-scoring win over their League Two rivals, beating Morecambe 5-0 at Stamford Bridge. Braces from Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix ensured a convincing victory, and the Blues will be joined by Bournemouth, Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest in the fourth round.
The biggest surprise of Saturday’s FA Cup games was Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 away win at Brentford. Morgan Whittaker scored the winner in the Pilgrims’ final game before Miron Muslic took over from the recently sacked Wayne Rooney.
