We know what we will get from Getafe’s Jose Borderlas. Few managers are more committed to 4-4-2 than a 60-year-old manager.

The hosts will have La Masia graduate Carlos Alena pulling the strings in the middle of the park, but Diego Rico and Alvaro Rodriguez are suspended. Yellu Santiago, Allan Nyom and Juan Berrocal are uncertain due to injuries.

Borderlas made changes for Getafe’s Copa del Rey triumph in midweek, and we’ll see the likes of Borja Mayoral and stalwart centre-back Djene back in the starting line-up.

Predicted line-up of Getafe against Barcelona (4-4-2): Soria; Dakonam, Duarte, Alderete, Iglesias; Alena, Milla, Arambarri, Coba; Uche, the mayor.

Andreas Christensen returned to training after a long break due to an Achilles injury. He could return to the matchday squad this weekend, but has fallen down the middle linebacker depth chart.

The visitors are without Marc Bernal, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inigo Martinez due to injuries. In Martinez’s absence, captain Ronald Araujo will keep his place alongside teenager Pau Cubarsi.

Dani Olmo is eligible to play amid a registration dispute and was in the starting 11 on Wednesday. Gavi, however, is in favor of usurping his compatriot as Barca’s top ten. Marc Casado and Robert Lewandowski are among the players likely to make Flick’s squad on Saturday after earning a midweek break.

Expected line-up of Barcelona against Getafe (4-2-3-1): Foam; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Balde; Casado, Pedri; Yamal, Gavi, Raphinha; Lewandowski.

After a poor finish to 2024, Barcelona rediscovered their pace and attacking power to start the new year. They look commanding again.

Getafe, however, have recently troubled Barca and the two sides were separated by just one goal in the reverse fixture. Bordelas’ side are notoriously stubborn and head into Saturday’s game with the third-best defensive record in La Liga. However, the underlying figures (per Opta) suggesting they were lucky to concede just 16 goals in this period. The hosts also proved to be extremely wasteful in front of the goal.

You have to take your chances to beat this Barcelona team – like Leganes and Atletico Madrid made last month.

The hosts will look to make this a nasty affair and take advantage of Barca’s youth, but Flick’s side, given what they produced last week, should have too much.

Prediction: Getafe 0-2 Barcelona
