Starbucks chief independent officer Mellody Hobson to leave Reuters
(Reuters) – Coffee giant Starbucks ( NASDAQ: ) said on Thursday that Mellody Hobson, the company’s board’s top independent director, would leave.
Hobson previously served as chairman from March 2021 to September 2024 and has been with the company for nearly two decades.
“In two decades, I have never sold a single share of Starbucks, and I plan to remain a staunch investor,” Hobson said in a letter to shareholders.
Last September, she took on the role of lead independent director alongside CEO Brian Niccola.
