Matheus Cunha: Wolves striker banned for two games and fined £80,000 by FA after Ipswich riot | Football news

Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has been banned for two matches and fined £80,000 following the incident after the end of the game against Ipswich.

Cunha was involved in an altercation with a member of Ipswich staff after the end of the Premier League match on December 14, and the FA charged the Brazil international with “inappropriate behaviour”.

The incident came after Jack Taylor scored a late winner for Ipswich, who are also fighting for Premier League survival, in Gary O’Neil’s final game before being sacked from his role as Wolves boss.

Wolves have won four of 19 matches and are 17th in the Premier League.

In a statement, the FA said: “Matheus Cunha has been suspended for two matches and fined £80,000 following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday 14 December 2024.

“The forward was accused of inappropriate behavior and allegedly acted inappropriately after the final whistle. He admitted the charge, and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by the independent Regulatory Commission.

“Full written reasons for this case will be released in due course.”
