The AOC has criticized the ‘disheartening’ tirade in the House of Representatives on the Women’s Sports Protection Bill

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for her “disheartening” tirade on the House floor criticizing Republicans for passing legislation aimed at banning biological males from women’s sports.

Gaines accused Democrats of putting on a “theatre” against the Women and Girls in Sports Act after it passed Tuesday. She dispelled far-left myths about the future of sports eligibility during “Fox & Friends.”

TRANSGENDER BILL DEFENDS MEN FROM VOTING IN WOMEN’S SPORTS IN NEW GOP-LED SENATE

“If she had spent two seconds reading the bill, she would have known that this … has nothing to do with a genital exam. This has nothing to do with any kind of anatomical check,” Gaines told host Lawrence Jones on Wednesday. “This includes a birth certificate and the routine physical examination that every athlete must already pass before they can play their sport.”

“Watching the theatrical performance, which is exactly what it was, from almost all the Democrats in the House of Representatives, was disheartening,” she continued. “And keep watching them rant about women’s rights and she brings up the Violence Against Women Act… Do we remember how the AOC voted on the Illegal Alien Violence Against Women Act? Because she voted against it.”

Every Republican representative voted for the billbut only two Democrats, Reps. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, and Vicente Gonzales, D-Texas, voted in favor of passage. All remaining 206 Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against. Tail. Don Davis, DN.C., voted “present.”

Ocasio-Cortez sharply criticized Republicans for the bill, claiming that young girls would be subjected to genital examinations, a claim that Republicans say is completely false.

Republicans who voted against, consistently, against the Violence Against Women Act, now want to pretend they care about women. And why? To open up gender and, yes, genital examinations of little girls in this country under the so-called attack on trans girls,” she said. “Trans girls are girls.”

The bill, if it passes the Senate and is signed into law, would prohibit schools from allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports.

Athletes would have to compete on sports teams that match the gender on an individual’s birth certificate. Any schools not following the rules would lose their federal funding.

It would apply to everyone federally funded schools kindergarten through high school, as well as colleges and universities that receive federal dollars.

Despite scrutinizing the far-left bill, Gaines insisted the issue of protecting women and women’s sports is anything but partisan.

“Obviously, Nov. 5 didn’t teach the Democrats anything,” Gaines said. “I was curious going into this. Are we going to see people double down like we saw from the AOC or are we going to see people start to slowly give up their position?”

Several Democrats have recently spoken out against their own party’s laser focus on inclusivity and progressivism, arguing that the far left leaves no room for disagreement on issues like transgender athletes.

Gaines pointed to Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., who has previously publicly said he does not support men’s competition in women’s sports. Despite his initial opposition, he did not vote for the bill, and neither did Rep. Tom Suozzi, DN.Y., who also expressed concern.

“He [Moulton] he went on the news and said, ‘We have become too radical as a party. I have daughters. I don’t want my daughter on the field or on the field with boys,’ but even Congressman Moulton was pressured to vote against the Women and Girls in Sports Act,” Gaines said.

“But that tells you something,” she continued. “That tells you the Democrats are more than a party…truly, they’re a cult.”
