West Brom will have to go back to the drawing board in terms of their pursuit of Corberan’s replacement with a host of rumors now surfacing.
Former Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has been linked with a sensational return to the Hawthorns of late, but it looks like that won’t happen due to the 61-year-old’s recent health problems.
A bit more left field also appeared in the form of former Manchester United coach Rene Hake, s Fabrizio Romano he even revealed in early January through his X account that West Brom were in talks with former deputy Erik ten Hag.
But apart from the rumor mill circulating these names as potential successors to Corberan, there appears to be a new favorite for the second-tier job apart from the appointees recently sacked by the Premier League side.
West Brom are eyeing a “fantastic” alternative to Wicky
Although Sean Dyche’s reputation took a nosedive in England’s game against Everton – with a poor 26 wins picked up from 83 games at Goodison Park – could yet come and make an impact in the lower leagues, with club insider DOOD reporting that alleged contact it was made with English agents.
After all, Dyche had previously played 171 games as a manager in the second division and tasted huge success here with former employers Burnley.

Looking at the table above, it’s clear that the former Clarets boss has previously been successful at a notoriously tricky level, with an impressive 79 wins collected from those 171 games, resulting in two promotions which were also achieved while at Turf Moor.
While Wicky boasts of his notable achievements on his managerial CV – s The success of the Swiss first league with Young Boys a shining moment on his CV – he would enter the English game as a relative unknown, in contrast to Dyche who knows the demands of the second league by heart.
What’s more, the 53-year-old feels even more suited to West Brom when you consider that he was reportedly eyeing Tom Fellows while still at the Toffees he was dug out, with the pair finally linked if Dyche is a Baggies pick.
At Everton this season before he left, Dyche used the wings effectively, with Iliman N’Diaye – who once shone in the Championship with Sheffield United – standing out as a canny customer, with Dwight McNeil gathering three goals and three assists in league action down the wings when he is fully fit.
It’s no real shock that he’s an avid Fellows fan, therefore, who has been putting chances on the plate for West Brom’s forwards all season by attacking down the right, with a very impressive 12 goal contributions next to his name in the championship.
Dyche could also jump at the chance to come to the Hawthorns when you consider he would also like the look of Josh Maja, away from the wasteful strikers he had at Everton, with the former Sunderland man a lethal goalscorer partnering Fellows, seen in his blistering 12 league goals.
Although his time on Merseyside will leave a few scars, “fantastic” The 53-year-old, named by Brentford boss Thomas Frank in November, has proved the league lower before and will be keen to repair his reputation as quickly as possible if given the chance.
