Sams left the field briefly with side pain before the concussion incident, but returned to the game. After further medical evaluation, it was confirmed that Sams had a side problem at the end of the season, which ruled him out for the rest of the tournament.

His contributions on and off the field are invaluable, but his health and recovery must come first. The whole team is behind him, and we will support him every step of the way,” said Trent Copeland.

“Daniel has been the cornerstone of this club for years and everyone in the team respects him a lot. Although he will not be out on the field, he will remain an integral part of our group. His calm demeanor, wealth of experience and leadership qualities will be crucial in the changing room as we go through the remaining games.”
