DOGE House Caucus Considers Federal Employees, Government Regulations in New Memorandum on Goal Setting
FIRST ON FOX: The Congressional Convening of the Congressional Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). is holding its second ever meeting on Wednesday, where its leaders are expected to unveil a set of “principles” that will guide the group in its mission to reduce government waste.
They outlined eight goals, some practical while others more symbolic, in an attempt to ensure the club complies with the DOGE advisory board established by President-elect Donald Trump.
“The federal government must serve the interests of taxpayers, and taxpayers are best served by a lean, efficient, transparent and accountable bureaucracy,” read the first principle, according to a draft memo obtained by Fox News Digital.
The document also proposed both lofty and lesser goals. “No amount of waste, fraud, abuse, duplication or administrative overhead is too small or too great to fix.” DOGE Caucus leaders have previously emphasized the “low-hanging fruit” with which they began their mission, such as unused federal office space held by agencies with telecommuting policies.

The memo cautions such employees, noting that they and any federal regulations or agencies “shall demonstrate effectiveness for and responsibility towards taxpayers, while not creating unnecessary costs or burdens.”
Rep. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., who co-founded the caucus, told Fox News Digital, “We’ve articulated our vision in a transparent way that’s concise and understandable to every American.”
Co-founder Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, said, “The mandate is clear: Every dollar spent in Washington must directly benefit the people it serves, while prioritizing transparency, accountability and efficiency.”

The caucus also called for the repeal of “existing federal agencies, programs, rules, regulations or functions that do not provide value to taxpayers,” if they cannot be reformed.
DOGE Caucus leaders also signal a significant focus on abolishing the regulatory state with the point: “All rules and regulations should be based on statute. Congress makes public policy, not unelected bureaucrats.”
Third Co-Chair of the Caucus, Vice Chair of the House GOP Conference Blake MooreR-Utah, said of their review: “The DOGE Caucus has wasted no time organizing our members and crafting a clear vision of what we hope to accomplish, and these principles outline how we plan to achieve it. Now is the time to rein in wasteful federal spending, streamline our bureaucracy and make Washington work better for Americans.”

The push to reduce government waste has met with surprising enthusiasm from members on both sides of the political spectrum. Several Democrats have already joined the caucus, and at least three are said to have attended the first meeting.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy were on Capitol Hill late last year to discuss goals for their DOGE panel with lawmakers.
