The length of Dani Olmo’s temporary registration in Barcelona has been revealed
Dani Olmo’s temporary registration at Barcelona expires at the beginning of April, and then a decision on the legal case will have to be made.
Seeing Olmo’s emergency registration expire on December 31 along with that of his team-mate Pau Victor, Barcelona were forced to turn to the Spanish government for help after La Liga highlighted the rule prohibiting teams from registering players more than once through one season.
Barcelona argued the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) that they should have been able to re-register Olmo and Victor before their original contracts expired, and both players ended up getting provisional registrations because the CSD has decided that the case is worth hearing.
As he noted The Athleticthese temporary licenses are limited to three months, which means that both Olmo and Victor will be able to play for Barcelona at least until the beginning of April.
The ruling gives the CSD time to examine what is a significant body of evidence from Barcelona. The Super Cup winners are believed to have submitted a dossier of over 60 supporting documents, while La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) will also be called upon to defend their decisions to block the initial registration requests.
La Liga they have already filed an appeal against the decision to grant temporary admissions, which could further complicate the whole situation.
Barcelona could play as many as 22 games in those three months, and the temporary registrations of Olmo and Victor should expire before Champions League the quarterfinals start on the 8th/9th. April.
