Chelsea tell £50,000/w international to force his club to sell him for £70m
Chelsea have now asked one of their transfer targets to push for a move to Stamford Bridge this month as they look to reduce his price before the end of the January transfer window, according to a new report.
Chelsea transfer news
Chelsea are expected to be busy this January, but Enzo Maresca the parties are ready for an exit before agreeing any deals for the new faces in West London. The Blues have a host of players who look set to leave in the coming weeks, with Ben Chilwell at the head of the queue. Speaking last week, Maresca confirmed that he was free to leave club after being frozen from Premier League team since the summer.
“For him (Chilwell) at the moment he’s also thinking he’s probably going to leave,” he explained when asked why Chilwell didn’t feature against Morecambe in the FA Cup.
Another player who can leave is Carney Chukwuemeka, who is interested in Borussia Dortmund and could now leave Stamford Bridge on loan in the weeks before the end of the transfer window after failing to make a Premier League appearance this campaign.

Cesare Casadei, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a return to Italy and, like Chukwuemeka, could leave in the coming weeks, although his move could be permanent.
Another player who could leave permanently is Renato Veiga, who is also attracting the attention of Borussia Dortmund and wants to move away from West London in search of regular minutes in the position of central defender, and until today he played in the position of left back and midfielder under Maresco.
However, amid significant departures, Chelsea are still hoping to strengthen and have now asked their No.1 transfer target to agitate for a move.
Chelsea are asking the “tank” to push the transfer to January
It comes according to Simon Phillips [via Caught Offside]who reports it Chelsea are “stepping up their efforts” to sign Marco Guehi in the second half of the January transfer window, and asked the defender to “press his current employers to let him go” in a bid to make him a more affordable option.
As things stand, Guehi’s £50,000 a week contract at Selhurst Park expires in 18 months and he has shown little desire to sign a new deal with Oliver Glasner’s side. Chelsea, however, would like to bring him back to Stamford Bridge after selling him to the Eagles in 2021, where he has since impressed enough to become an England regular.

However, any club looking to sign him have been warned off the centre-back’s alleged £70m price tag, which has had the desired effect. To address this, it was reported that Chelsea were “holding internal discussions about the situation” and had reached out to Guehi to ask him to push for a return to west London, in an attempt to lower his price.
Called “absolute container” by his former England Under-21 team-mate Josef Bursik, Guehi can play on either side of the back, which would provide welcome protection for Maresca’s side given their back problems.
If they fail to land Guehi, the Blues are also considering alternative options. I can still remember Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Selhurst Park, where he impressed alongside their primary target.
Meanwhile, another report claims the Blues also had scouts attending the Taca de Liga final between Benfica and Sporting CP to evaluate the trio of central defender targets in the form of Goncalo Inacio, Tomas Araujo and Ousmane Diomande. However, they seem to be plan B as things stand.
