Ex-Oregon officer arrested for allegedly pistol-whipping on Christmas Day
Ryan Pellum, Ex Oregon Ducks wide receiver, was arrested Friday on a charge of assault with a firearm for allegedly pistol-whipping a person in California on Christmas Day.
Pellum, whose full name is Ryan Tristan Chance Taylor, was arrested in Springfield in connection with the incident in Long Beach, California. Oregonian. The school declined to comment to the newspaper because he was no longer part of the football program.

He is accused of hitting a person with a 9 mm pistol, the newspaper writes. The alleged victim reportedly required stitches following the incident. Pellum was also charged with firing a weapon.
While the authorities arrested him, Register-keeper reported that he told officers he was aware of the warrant for his arrest.

Pellum was a four-star recruit out of Long Beach Millikan. He went viral in June 2023 when he used his son to choose the school he would attend. He decided to choose USC at the time, but changed his commitment.
He ended up playing four games for the Ducks before 2024 he decided to enter the transfer portal. Appeared on special teams for Oregon, making one punt return.

Pellum is the nephew of former Oregon Ducks linebacker and defensive coordinator Don Pellum. He decided to play football using his last name instead of his first name, according to The Oregonian.
