Crews navigating icy roads, wind and constant winter weather in rebuilding efforts;
The company expects to restore power to nearly all affected customers on Saturday
Many areas suffered additional damage overnight from falling trees and branches, with the worst affected areas including sections
Georgia Power appreciates the importance of accurate information for customers as they plan their families. The company continues to post the latest information, including Estimated Restoration Times (ERT) on its Outage Map if available, based on the latest information from field crews. Safety advice for customers and crews
Georgia Power reminds customers that dangerous conditions exist after a storm and to always follow the advice of local, state and federal emergency services in storm-affected areas.
- Watch out for Georgia Power crews working across the country. If you must be on the road, please use one lane for utility vehicles stopped on the side of the road “ this is the law in Georgia.
- Never touch a down or low-hanging wire. Warn those who go out to play in the snow or clear debris that they should be careful and avoid downed wires.
- Never pull tree branches from power lines yourself or enter areas with heavy snow, debris, or downed trees because downed power lines can be hidden. Customers should call 911 or Georgia Power immediately if they see a downed or low-hanging power line.
- Be careful if using a portable generator. Follow all manufacturer’s instructions, avoid using the generator indoors and take care of electrical safety. Click here for more safety tips.
