Two dozen armed men tried to storm Chad’s presidential palace, but 18 attackers and two soldiers were killed in the failed attack, the state prosecutor said Thursday. Heavy gunfire erupted on Wednesday near the presidential compound just before 8:00 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT) in the center of N’Djamena, the capital of the military-ruled central African state.
