Mel Gibson hits out at California leaders ‘sleeping on the job’ amid wildfires

Actor Mel Gibson joined a number of Hollywood celebrities calling out Golden State’s leadership during the deadly forest fires this week.

Since the fires broke out on Tuesday, California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles County officials have faced backlash from celebrities for their lack of preparation and response to the crisis as flames continue to ravage the area.

The wildfires left at least 10 dead and more than 10,000 homes and businesses destroyed.

“There is always a suspicion that this could happen. It is thought that the resources and capabilities of the men and women will be ready, that they will be able to deal with any situation that arises, but apparently some people slept on the job, mainly our leaders there ,” Gibson said Friday on “Ingraham’s corner.”

“But, you know, it’s something they have to live with — but it’s something the community has to live with, and it’s really sad.”

Gibson told Newsom he was “spending less on hair gel,” noting he was “not a big fan” of either director’s leadership.

“California has a lot of issues that kind of boggle the mind as to why they’re doing things, and then in events like this, you’re kind of looking at, well — is this intentional? What, it’s crazy to think about, but you start to think, is there purpose in mind.”
