The action took place during the 15th over of the Sydney Sixers’ innings when the Andrew Tye of Perth Scorchers was bowling. Tye delivered an over-the-top ball just short of the off-stump and Smith, with impeccable timing and finesse, opened his bat-face at the last moment, expertly guiding the ball over deep backward point for a magnificent six from 74 metres. It was a truly remarkable shot – one that looked deceptively easy but was actually a very difficult shot to pull off. The crowd went wild as Smith displayed his sheer class and control, producing a shot that perfectly embodied his batting brilliance.

In the Sixers’ innings, Smith’s batting was nothing short of stunning. The opener showed his exceptional skill and composure as he scored an incredible 121 off just 64 balls. His knock included 10 fours and seven sixes, hitting the ball at an impressive strike rate of 189.06. Smith’s powerful and consistent strokeplay set the tone for the match and he remained unbeaten, leading his team to a dominant total. The century was Smith’s third in the Big Bash League, making him the joint record holder for most centuries in the history of the tournament, tied with Ben McDermott.

The Sydney Sixers have set a huge target
The Sydney Sixers, who were asked to bat first, posted an imposing total of 220/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Along with Smith’s sensational knock, the Sixers’ total was boosted by the valuable contribution of their captain, Moises Henriques. Henriques, playing an important supporting role, scored a quick 46 runs off 28 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Henriques’ additions proved to be crucial in accelerating the run, adding depth to the overall team.
