As is often the case with free agents, David would likely demand a significant raise for his A £31,000-a-week contract as well as a signing fee, but those numbers would pale in comparison to the potential compensation for alternative options.
Viktor Gyokeres, for example, is believed to be available for an eye £60m this summer. While his previous relationship with Amorim suggests he would guarantee goals, he would also be a significant outlay for a club that has earned too much in recent seasons without seeing a return on their investment.
