Manchester United they will now be offered a new striker they could sign as an alternative to Viktor Gyokeres, as reported, in a move that would save them millions.
Manchester United transfer news
Major surgery is needed at Old Trafford to create a squad capable of challenging in the top flight Premier League under Reuben Amorim. The former Sporting coach’s 3-4-2-1 does not suit the current group of players at Old Trafford, something which saw Diogo Dalot used as a full-back on one side and Noussair Mazraoui on the other.
Major improvements are needed in midfield with Christian Eriksen long past his prime and out of contract this summer, while Casemiro is also likely to be free to leave with the Brazilian clearly unable to keep up with the physical demands of Amorim’s system. Although both Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have played well, injuries and suspensions have seen them pair up just six times this season, with more options needed in midfield.

Meanwhile, there are even more concerns at the top of the pitch. The Red Devils have scored just 23 goals so far this Premier League season, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund netting just five combined despite costing the club nearly £100m over the past two seasons, while Marcus Rashford has been frozen out and could he is leaving the club this January.
With so many changes needed across the pitch and wider squad, and the club still trying to cut costs to stay in line with financial fair play, they will need to find some bargains to try and help Amorim in the upcoming transfer window. Now they can be offered one.
Manchester United made a cheap bid for the “superstar” striker.
This comes as GiveMeSport reports Canadian national team player Jonathan David will be offered to Manchester United this summer because he enters the market as a free agent.
Lille’s number 9 has hit the net regularly during his time at Les Dogues and has already hit the net 11 times this season, almost half the number Manchester United have managed as a team.
Now set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, the 24-year-old is expected to be the subject of significant interest from across Europe, with the report claiming United are expected to eventually be offered David of the season.

Despite approaching the prime of his career as a free agent, there is no doubting David’s quality, with his Canadian teammate Jonathan Osario called him a “superstar”. As is often the case with free agents, David would likely demand a significant raise for his A £31,000-a-week contract as well as a signing fee, but those numbers would pale in comparison to the potential compensation for alternative options.
Viktor Gyokeres, for example, is believed to be available for an eye £60m this summer. While his previous relationship with Amorim suggests he would guarantee goals, he would also be a significant outlay for a club that has earned too much in recent seasons without seeing a return on their investment.
However, the arrival of David would allow Manchester United to sign one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe while retaining their money for other potential additions to continue building a functional squad for Amor.
