NFL 2025 games in London: New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed as designated teams at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley | NFL news
The New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars have been confirmed as designated home teams for NFL London 2025 games.
The Jets will be playing in the UK for the second straight year and fourth time overall after suffering a 23-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last October.
Cleveland return for their second game in London in franchise history after losing 33-16 to the Vikings at Twickenham in 2017, while the Jags will visit the capital for the 14th time in the league after playing back-to-back games abroad for two years.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will feature games against the Jets and Browns, while Jacksonville returns to Wembley for the 10th time.
“We look forward to welcoming the Jets, Browns and Jaguars to London as part of the 2025 NFL International Games,” said NFL UK & Ireland General Manager Henry Hodgson.
“This season we will surpass 40 regular matches in the capital, a testament to the role the UK has played in developing the game globally. The London Games are a continuing catalyst for fan engagement throughout the year and we are focused on serving our 15 million fans , reaching new communities and driving growth in participation in flag football, which now sees more than 100,000 young people playing the game.”
It remains to be seen how the Jets will shape up for the 2025 season amid question marks over the future of four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose hopes of leading the franchise to Super Bowl contention suffered a season-ending Achilles injury four games into his 2023 debut before endured another grueling campaign en route to a 5-12 finish in 2024.
The Jets are also set to come in with a new head coach after Robert Saleh was fired following October’s loss to the Vikings in London. The team is currently in the NFL’s longest active postseason drought after failing to make the playoffs for the 14th straight year, despite boasting a stellar receiving core led by Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams, along with star running back Breece Hall.
“We are excited to bring the unique and fun atmosphere of a New York Jets home game to London as part of the 2025 NFL International Games,” said New York Jets President Hymie Elhai.
“This is another great opportunity for our organization to build on our brand and the fans in the UK that we have enjoyed nurturing over the past few years. The success of the NFL’s international matches speaks directly to the ever-increasing global reach of the sport and we are proud to continue this as ambassadors games.”
Jacksonville will once again be led by former starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence, whose 2024 campaign was derailed by a shoulder injury and concussion, but will be led by a new head coach who parted ways with Doug Pederson after a 4-13 record this season. Jags No. 1 pick Brian Thomas Jr. has emerged as one of the league’s most gifted young wide receivers, while former No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker is coming off back-to-back 10-plus catch seasons.
“Once again we are delighted to be returning to London later this year for our 14th match in the capital and are grateful for our extended partnership with the Football Association which enables another home game to be played at Wembley Stadium, one of the world’s most famous stadiums and Jaguars home away from home,” Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan said.
“The game is a culmination of the incredible work we do every day at the grassroots level, and I’m proud that our JagTag flag football program will reach more than 100,000 young people in 2024, helping to grow American football outside of the US.”
Myles Garrett looms as the main attraction for the Browns as a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate who has managed to collect 102.5 sacks since entering the league as the No. 1 pick in 2017, second only to TJ Watt’s 108 in that time.
Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy just enjoyed a career year with 90 catches for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns despite Cleveland’s uncertainty at running back behind Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston, while Nick Chubb remains one of the league’s most popular running backs after returning from a long-term knee injury earlier this year.
Cleveland could have a new face at quarterback as they secured the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after they finished 3-14 on the year.
“We are delighted to have been named as the selected team for the 2025 NFL Games in London, our second international trip as a club and our first time playing at the incredible Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,” said Haslam Sports Group COO David Jenkins. “We look forward to playing in front of our fans in the United Kingdom this coming season and helping to continue to grow the global popularity of the Browns and the NFL.”
The NFL has staged 39 regular season games in the UK since the first between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants in 2007, with the Jaguars and New England Patriots in October drawing a record London crowd of 86,651 at Wembley Stadium.
This year’s match will be the 27th played at Wembley, while Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium will welcome its 11th and 12th contests as the official ‘home of the NFL’ in the UK amid the current deal which sees two regular season games played at Tottenham each year through the 2029-30 season.
The NFL’s overseas growth reached new heights in 2024 when the league held its first regular season game in Brazil when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo in the opening week of the campaign.
In addition to the three games in London, this year’s calendar will also include the first game of the regular season in Spain, which will be hosted by Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. The league will also play in Germany for the fourth year in a row, this time going to the Olympic Stadium in Berlin after two games were played in Frankfurt and Munich in the last three seasons.
