Sydney Thunder skipper David Warner has been a shining light for his team in the ongoing match against Hobart Hurricanes in the 2024-25 Big Bash League (BBL). The match between these two teams will be played at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Friday (January 10).

David Warner, who opened the innings, gave a solid start to his team in the ongoing match. The top batsman has shown his good form in the ongoing Big Bash League, making sure to lay a huge platform for his team to post a big total.

After Sydney Thunder lost two wickets, David Warner held down the fort for his team and made sure to keep one side. The opening batsman has played some poor shots in his innings and is looking to hang in there till the end and lead his team to a competitive total.

However, Warner did not have the start he would have liked for his innings. The batsman was on the receiving end of a hilarious but nasty strike at the start of the innings that left many in splits. The incident happened during the 4th over of the innings.

Riley Meredith bowled a full ball and Sydney Thunder captain Warner went on the offensive. He mishit to midfield, but what caught the attention of many was when the ball hit his bat, the bat broke with the handle displaced.

What was even more bizarre was the swing of the bat, which almost knocked him back in the head. Warner didn’t know what happened at first and play stopped for some time before the batsman changed his bat and resumed batting.

Warner looked focused after that knock and although it wasn’t as fluent an innings as he would have liked, he made sure he scored a vital century for the team. The batsman would like to go on till the last and help his team to a big total.

Warner has hardly any support from the other batsmen in the ongoing game. The opening batsman got some support from Sam Billings, who scored 28 runs, while the duo added 34 runs. Other batsmen failed to achieve much success.

Sam Konstas fell early and after that Olliver Davies scored 17 runs. The Sydney Thunder would be hoping that the opening batting will take them to a total of over 160 and give their bowlers something to fight for.
