CAYCE, SC–( BUSINESS WIRE )–Dominion Energy is bracing for the impact of wintry weather in South Carolina this weekend, which is expected to bring a wintry mix of precipitation to parts of the company’s service territory on Friday. The company urges customers to take care and be prepared for possible power outages.
Because winter precipitation can change quickly, crews are ready to respond and will be flexible regardless of the weather or weather. The company is in contact with neighboring utilities and contracting companies to secure additional funding if needed.
We know from extensive experience that weather like this can be dangerously tricky because even the slightest change in the forecast can quickly mean the difference between rain, sleet, snow or ice, said Keller Kissam, president of Dominion Energy (NYSE:) South Carolina. Whatever comes our way, our crews are ready. The most important thing is that everyone is ready and safe.
Tips for customers to stay safe and informed:
- Create or restock an emergency kit. The National Weather Service recommends making a basic disaster kit before the storm, including water, flashlights, batteries and non-perishable food. Learn more about what to include in the basic kit.
- Stay away from downed power lines. Winter weather and the possibility of ice accumulation can cause trees and branches to fall on power lines. Downed trees, branches and power lines, as well as icy roads create dangerous travel conditions. Always assume that downed power lines are live and dangerous. Customers in South Carolina should immediately call 888-333-4465 to report a downed power line.
- Download the Dominion Energy app. The fastest and safest way to report or track an outage is to use the Dominion Energy app. Customers can also report outages by going to DominionEnergy.com or by calling 800-251-7234.
- Follow Dominion Energy on social media. The company will provide updates and additional advice to keep customers informed and safe.
