Man Utd confirm new long-term contract for Amado Diallo
Manchester United star striker Amad Diallo has signed a new long-term contract with the club, tying his future to Old Trafford until 30 June 2030.
The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a prolific run of form since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, thriving in the wing role and as part of the front three. Amad scored his sixth goal of the season and secured a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The 22-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season – although the club always had the option of a one-year extension – and he was reportedly object of interest of two more clubs.
“I’m really proud to sign this new contract,” Amad told United’s official website after putting pen to paper. “I’ve already had incredible moments with this club, but there’s still a lot to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to make history at Manchester United.
“I’ve learned so much since I arrived here four years ago; I’m very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me develop, as well as the fans for pushing me forward every day.
“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right track and that the future will be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our fans proud again.”
Manchester United technical director Jason Wilcox – who has taken on an increasingly involved role since the sudden departure of athletic director Dan Ashworth – he was full of praise for the young striker.
“Everyone is delighted with Amad’s development; his quality on the ball, versatility and determination make him a key part of Manchester United’s future,” said the Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers.
“He has the best years of his career ahead of him and we all look forward to helping Amado reach his immense potential and achieve success at the club in the coming seasons.”
